Q: How do I create a new map?
A:
There are many ways to create a new Map:

  1. Drag and drop a Map file on the Editor area (uDig 1.1)
  2. Press the arrow beside the New button and select New Map.
  3. Select File > New > New Map.

If there are no maps open then you can:

  1. Drag and drop a URL or file on to the Layers view or the Editor Area
  2. Select Layers > Add Layer. A new map will be created containing the data you select using the wizard.
  3. Click the New button on the Toolbar (The left most button)
  4. Select File > New > New Layer
