Objective
This single day course is an introduction to development with the uDig platform. After completing this workshop attendees should have the skills necessary to accomplish the following tasks.
- Set up a uDig development environment
- Develop new uDig plug-ins
- Create a customized Rich Client Platform application
Prerequisites
Attendees should have a working knowledge in the following areas:
- Java Development
- OGC Standards (WMS,WFS,SLD)
Are the OGC Standards required? They should be able to just use this stuff, admittedly the background would help for a deeper understanding
Okay I take that back you are going to do putStyles, will you use the GeoTools WebMapServer API?
The following is a list of software components needed to take part in the âhands-onâ components of the course.
- Java Runtime Environment 1.5
- Java Advanced Imaging 1.1.2_01 JRE Extension
- Java Advanced Imaging Image I/O Tools 1.0_01 JRE Extension
- Eclipse 3.1.2 SDK
- Eclipse Modeling Framework SDK
- Graphical Editing Framework SDK
- uDig 1.1.M7 SDK
It is recommended that attendees perform the uDig SDK Quickstart prior to taking part in the course. Detailed instructions for doing so can be found at the following url:
Please be sure you are following the correct directions, you do not need a full uDig Development Environment for this course.
