Feature Portrayal Service

The Feature Portrayal Service ( FPS ) is a facinating construct allowing for external visualization of WFS content. In this uDig plugin we use it as an alternate Renderer for Web Feature Server content, and explicitly make use of it for dealing with GML3 content.

How to try it out?

  1. Access a Web Feature Server

Okay that is not really specific enough, uDig could do that already.

  1. Access a Web Feature Server 1.0 with only support for GML3 content:
  2. Try changing between the symbology sets (via Windows > Preferences)
  3. Enjoy

Sample FPS urls (you can change these by right clicking on the layer and choosing Style), you can also change between these two via Windows > Preferences.

  • ObjectFX
  • galdos

If we get time we will support Symbolog Encoding document via FPS Post.
